Tax Barrister for HMRC Disputes and Appeals
Robust advice and representation for individuals and businesses facing HMRC investigations, appeals, assessments and tax litigation.
I am a tax and public law barrister at 1 Crown Office Row, London. I represent clients who need a determined advocate to scrutinise HMRC’s evidence, challenge its legal position and defend businesses and individuals.
My practice includes Schedule 36 information notices, COP9 investigations, discovery assessments, tax penalties, VAT disputes, tax appeals and judicial review. I also advise on UK tax residence, the US–UK tax treaty and cross-border HMRC disputes.
I have published articles in authoritative journals such Tax Journal on tax law and due process, Code of Practice 9, and VAT.
HMRC Disputes and Tax Appeals
I act for entrepreneurs, company directors, owner-managed businesses, internationally based clients, solicitors and accountants. My approach is forensic and commercially focused: identify the strongest arguments, assess the risks candidly and pursue resolution through negotiation or litigation as the case requires.
Direct Access and Fixed-Fee Initial Advice
You can instruct me directly where your case is suitable. I am authorised to conduct litigation and offer fixed-fee initial strategic advice, with the scope and fee agreed in advance.
I previously served on the Attorney General’s Panel and was nominated for Legal 500 Tax Junior of the Year 2025.
